Oracle Virtual Classroom – Hub & Spoke Model
The 'Oracle Virtual Classroom - Hub & Spoke Model' project sought to improve the overall effectiveness of education in schools through the production of e-learning pedagogical materials in a central hub and delivering them through virtual classrooms. The project was implemented in Mahendra Tanaya Ashram School, Gajapati district, Gram Vikas Shikshya Niketan, Kalahandi district and Gram Vikas Residential School, Ganjam district in Odisha.
The project aimed to adopt a hub and spoke model and leverage the fullest potential of Information Communication Technology to overcome the challenges associated with remote locations of schools.

ACTIVITIES
- Installation of ICT systems at Mahendra Tanaya Ashram School and Gram Vikas Residential School
- Setting up of a Central Hub at Mohuda campus for the production of audio-visual pedagogic materials & hiring of educational experts
- Installation of facilities at the Hub for transmission of audio-visual lessons to the schools
- Collection of e-learning materials and cataloguing them for systematic access
- Standardisation of lesson plans for two subjects, i.e. Science & Mathematics for at least Grades VI and VII
- Commencement of production of lessons in the audio-visual form
RESULTS
- 15 desktop computers were installed in each of the mentioned schools
- Computer connectivity helped students develop their familiarity with the devices and incited their exploration, curiosity and creativity
- Central Hub established at Mohuda with a high configuration machine and heavy duty printer cum scanner
- Two 42-inch LED smart TVs installed in schools to be used as a display screen to orient teachers on exploring and downloading e-learning TLMs
- Teachers trained in computer fundamentals, use of computers, printers and projectors, creating files and folders; and oriented on MS Office tools
- e-Learning materials categorised and distributed in all the computers and laptops
- Maths TLM installed to support Mathematics teaching
- Odia Wikipedia installed in all the computers to help students overcome the struggle with the language
- Schools started using audio-visuals such as poems, stories and Genki English have started in the schools too
- Child-friendly movies in the English language assembled and screened to develop familiarity on the language
- e-Learning Materials were sourced from various channels and distributed for use
